Obituary of Jane M. Kuhn
Cohocton – Jane M. Kuhn, 74 years of age, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, August 11, 2016 at the Hospeace House in Naples.
Jane was born January 26th, 1942 in Wayland the daughter of Arthur and Genevieve (Wager) Wagner. She grew up in Cohocton and remained a resident of the Cohocton area her entire life. Jane and Gerald Kuhn Sr. were married April 30th, 1960 at St. Pius Church in Cohocton and together celebrated over 37 years of marriage prior to Gerald passing away in February of 1998.
Jane was employed as a teacher’s aide at Cohocton Central and Wayland-Cohocton Central Schools, retiring after 20 years of service. She also provided day care at her house for family and friends throughout the years. Jane was an active member of the Cohocton Lioness for many years and she enjoyed volunteering for the Cohocton Sports Booster Club concession stand at the sports complex. She loved playing cards, especially euchre, was an avid New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan, and Jane enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events throughout the years. Another joy for Jane was taking in many stray cats and dogs over the years. She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends of the Cohocton and surrounding communities.
Jane was pre-deceased by her parents, Arthur and Genevieve Wagner; her husband, Gerald Kuhn Sr.; her grandson, Brandon Kuhn; her twin brother, James Wagner; her brother Francis Wagner; and her special companion of many years, Louie Hendley.
She is survived by her children, Gerald Kuhn Jr. (Joanne Furia) of Dansville, Mark Kuhn (Crystal Swanson) of Perkinsville, Barbara Miller of Cohocton and Brian (Denise) Kuhn of Cohocton; her grandchildren, Gerald Kuhn III, Morgan Kuhn (Mike Tota), Ryan Kuhn, Brianne Kuhn (John Floramo), granddaughter-in-law, Jasmine Kuhn, grandchildren, Michael (Allyson) Kuhn, Jeffery Kuhn, and Hannah Kuhn; her great-grandchildren, Alivia, Brody, Emmy, Carter and Carlea; her sisters, Shirley (Charles) Fairbrother of Dansville and Mary (Henry) Miller of Victor; her sister-in-law Lucille Wagner of Wayland; along with several nieces and nephews.
Jane’s family and friends may call Sunday from 5:00 – 8:00pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A family prayer service will be offered at 10:15 Monday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jane Monday at 11:00am at St. Pius Church in Cohocton. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at St. Pius Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Jane M. Kuhn’s memory may be made to the Cohocton Sports Boosters, 30 Park Ave., Cohocton, NY 14826 or to the Cohocton Lions/Lioness Club, PO Box 349, Cohocton, NY 14826.
