Obituary of John Lee
Wayland – John Lee, 88 years of age, passed away Saturday December 10, 2016 at Nicholas H. Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
John was born April 18, 1928 in New York City, the son of John and Dorothy (Dybas) Lee. He has resided in the Wayland community for over 30 years. Throughout the years, John participated in the Arc of Steuben Vocational Training program. However in recent years he would say that he is “retired!” John’s hobbies were many as he was an avid game and card player (especially Rummy); he loved putting together puzzles; and he especially took pleasure in playing practical jokes on people. Drinking coffee at Dunkin Donuts; going to the local diners and stirring the cookie dough and later eating the cookies were also favorites of John. He also loved animals and he had an interesting collection of different bars of soap.
John was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Wayland for many years. He was a caring and loving person that touched the hearts of many. He will be missed by all his friends.
John is survived by his life-long close friend, James Rex of Dansville; along with all his many close friends of the Wayland Community.
John’s friends may call Wednesday from 1-2pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. His funeral service will be conducted at 2pm at the funeral home. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland. Memorial contributions in John Lee’s memory may be made to any local animal shelter of your choice.
