Dear Sandi, John, Sarah and Paige,
Facing all the difficulties and challenges Taylor was dealt in life, she remained a loving, beautiful young woman who gave her all. She touched many with her intelligence, courage, loving nature, and kind ways. She continues to remain an inspiration to us all. What a legacy she leaves behind!
We know she is now happy and free from all her pain and is with all her loved ones who preceded her in her passing. They are all embracing our beloved Taylor as they welcome her "home". She will bring them great joy as she did for everyone she left behind.
God bless our beautiful niece and her loving family keeping them all in His care.
Go, Sweet Girl! You rule, Taylor! Let your butterfly wings soar high and enjoy your new freedom!
We will always love you. XXXOOO

Taylor had the most beautiful soul I have ever known. My heart goes out to all who loved and cared for her. May the thought of knowing she will never suffer again give you peace as you try to overcome your loss. Everything everyone is saying about Taylor is so true. She always amazed me with the drive she had to be the best she could be. Might I add that the lord Blessed her when he gave her precious soul to the family he did. I only knew her mom and that side of her family and that family gave her the best care and made every opportunity Taylor could possibly want possible for her. May God Bless you all as you Journey through life.

Taylor inspired all who crossed her path. Strength and dignity in the face of adversity are admirable qualities in anyone, let alone in one so young. Her joy of life sparkled in her eyes, as did her humor. I pray that you find comfort in the knowledge that, like the butterflies she so adored, she has emerged from the confines of her chrysalis of bandages to fly free among the angels. The entire Bligh family is keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers.

Skin is a precious gift. Fewer than one in a million children are born with recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa. Taylor is one of those children; her family is one of those families. There is no causation other than simple, innocent chance.
The COL7A1 gene encodes "the staples" that hold skin together. Taylor came into this world with blisters and has lived with blisters her entire life. Thanks to the abundant love of her family, and the exquisite dedication of her nurses, Kerri and Lori, Taylor has lived life as emphatically as her disease has allowed.
RDEB is a cruel and unrelenting disease. This form is always fatal. Yet Kerri, Lori, family, friends, and others have given Taylor time for the butterfly to emerge. And what a beautiful, graceful, delicate butterfly Taylor was.
Taylor was engaged, intellectually curious, commanding, and kind. During her last hospitalization we discussed the fine points of alexandrites as chatoyant chrysoberyls; of batik as the precursor of tie dying. Despite the pain, the fright, the meds, and the fact that she was with only one week left to live; she was laser focused, inquisitive, and wise beyond her years.
It has been a privilege to work with a family and a medical team as dedicated and expert as "team Taylor". Taylor did not suffer fools. She could see your soul and feel your love for her. To be trusted by Taylor was something very special. Very, very special.
She touched so many, inspired so many, loved so many. So much good has been brought to this world because of Taylor. And yet, although I know and trust there has been a purpose to her suffering, I wish she had never heard of COL7A1. I wish her family had been spared the dressings, the pain medications, the tubes and the endless anguish. I wish I could have made her better.
Taylor will suffer no further pain, or itching, or dressing changes, or tubes, or hospitalizations. I wish she were still here with us. I believe in tikkum olam. This mystic belief is that the world is broken into pieces and each of us must make the world a better place. One interpretation is that we are the broken pieces and when we come together, we have expressed G-d’s will. We will meet again. And we will be whole. And we can embrace each other’s wonderful souls. And Taylor will be smiling and well.
