Obituary of Shawn M. Martinez

Wayland – Shawn M. Martinez, 44 years of age, passed away Wednesday evening December 6, 2017 at Noyes Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.

Shawn was born July 25, 1973 the daughter of John V. Rawleigh Sr. and Patricia (Buckley) Rowland.  Throughout her life, Shawn has resided in Bath, Cohocton and Wayland.  Shawn was a 1991 graduate of Wayland Central School.  Her hobbies were many but mostly she enjoyed playing bingo, scrabble and various card games.  Her family and friends were very important to Shawn, especially her son Mason.   She was always willing to help out any of her family and friends whenever needed. She will be remembered thoughtfully and missed by all.

Shawn was pre-deceased by maternal grandparents, Robert and Mary Buckley; her paternal grandparents, George Rawleigh and Alice Bulkley; her step-father, Roger Rowland; and  her cousin James “Jimmy” Mastin; She is survived by her son Mason L. Smith; her special friend and Mason’s father, Lonnie Smith; her step-children, Anastacia and Shylia Smith; her mother Patricia Rowland of Wayland; her father John Rawleigh Sr. of Bath; her siblings, Jason (Nichole) Rawleigh of Wayland, Heather Rawleigh (Aaron Smith) of Wayland, Amanda (Larry) Seager Jr. of Kanona, John Jr. (Stephanie) Rawleigh of Bath and Belinda (Chuck) Hoad of Wallace; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews one great niece and other extended family members and friends. 

Shawn’s family and friends may call Monday from 4-7pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland, NY.  A family prayer service will offered at 10:15 Tuesday morning.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Shawn at 11am Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Church.  Committal prayers and interment will immediately follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Contributions in memory of Shawn Martinez may be made to a trust fund for her “little man,” Mason L. Smith.
