I am now a retired local government employee who met Cara several years ago. She told me she was awaiting a kidney donor to come forward. I visited her one evening at Strong when she was a patient, and took her some small snack. I eventually worked up the courage to donate but was immediately rejected by Strong Hospital because I was taking a prescription blood pressure medication. I sent Cara a note letting her know I had tried, and to hang in there. I never heard anything more and lost contact with her. Then I saw her obituary. I remember she was a quiet, lovely person of great courage and strength, a true rare gem. Not only did she deal with her health problems for years, but I also believe she was involved in a severe car crash in the Southern Tier when she was a child and it was a miracle she survived. She surely makes the rest of us want to be better human beings. I will never forget her. My condolences to her family. Rest in peace, Cara.

Cara, you will be remembered as the sweetest and kindest person that I was fortunate to know. You were our cheerleading pyramid's base; you unified us, we relied upon you and you never failed us. You never waivered in your friendship or kindness. You prove that God takes the good ones early. We will miss you dearly. My deepest condolence to your family and friends. Tammy
