Obituary of David L. Dunning
Loon Lake – David L. Dunning, 72 years of age, passed away early Wednesday morning November 7, 2018 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
Dave was born July 9, 1946 in Hornell the son of Harold G. and Vera Nellie (Beach) Dunning. He grew up in Canaseraga. Throughout the years, Dave resided in Holley, Kendall, back to Canaseraga and in 1994 he settled at Loon Lake. Dave retired from Dorschel Automotive in Rochester. During his 35 year career, he started at the ground level and worked his way up to his most recent position as Vice President of Fixed Operations. Dave and Kathy Fox were married December 23, 1972 in Dansville and together have celebrated over 45 years of marriage.
Dave was a past member of the Canaseraga Lions Club; the Canaseraga American Legion and the Dansville Moose Club. Throughout the years he enjoyed hunting and fishing as well. Dave will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
Dave was pre-deceased by his parents, Harold and Vera Dunning. He is survived by his wife Kathy Dunning of Loon Lake; his children, James Dunning of Hornell, Kelly (Brian) Lacy) of Swain, Joseph (Sherri) Dunning of Dalton and Kandy Hoyt of Hornell; his grandchildren, Timothy (Ashley) Dunning, MarceAnn Dunning, Devon, Kyle, Dakota and Brennon Lacy, Alynn and Anastyn Dunning, and Haley Hoyt; his great-grandchildren, Tucker and Emmett; his siblings, Sandra (Bob) Whalen of Dansville, Linda (Ron) Phillips of Darien Center, Arthur (Carol) Dunning of Dansville; several in-laws; along with several nieces and nephews.
Dave’s family and friends may call Friday from 4-7pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A family prayer service will take place at 10:15 Saturday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dave at 11am Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church in Wayland. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at Lakeside Cemetery overlooking Loon Lake. Contributions in Memory of David L. Dunning may be made to the Vincent House, 310 Second Ave., Wayland, NY 14572.
