Obituary of Patricia Ruth Mark
Wayland – Patricia R. Mark “Patsy,” 79 years of age, passed away late Tuesday evening at the Conesus Lake Nursing Home where she had resided most recently.
Patsy was born October 2, 1939 at their family home on Bowles Corners Rd. in Wayland the daughter of Edward and Ruth (Kelly) Didas. She grew up in and resided most of her life in the Wayland – Cohocton areas. She did live in Dansville for a period of time prior to moving to the Conesus Lake Nursing Home in 2017. Patsy was a farmer’s wife and raised 8 children at their home.
Patsy spent much of her free time volunteering for St. Joseph’s Church. She sang in the choir, was past president of the Rosary Society, lead the cake booth at St. Joseph’s festival, helped at St. Joseph’s School and rectory and was on the cemetery committee for years. Patsy was a wonderful cook and baker and she also took great pleasure in visiting and helping those in need. Patsy dearly loved her children and grandchildren and will be missed by all her family and friends.
Patsy was pre-deceased by her parents, Edward and Ruth Didas; her husband, Bernard Mark her sons, Bernie Abbott and David Mark; and her sisters, Phyllis Smith and Lorraine Meyer. She is survived by her children, Joseph (Faith) Abbott of NC, Susan (Frank) Witek of Liverpool, Vince (Veronica) Abbott of Rochester, Anthony Mark of Wayland, Billie Jo (Michael) Young of Fairport and Angel Mark of Wayland; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and her sister Yvonne Didas of Hornell.
Patsy’s family and friends may call Friday from 4-7 pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A family prayer service will be offered at 10:15am Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Patsy at 11am Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church, Wayland. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Patricia R. “Patsy” Mark may be made to the Vincent House, 310 Second Ave., Wayland, NY 14572.
