Obituary of Rene S. Canute

Wayland / Springwater – Rene S. Canute, 56 years of age, passed away late Saturday afternoon January 12, 2019 at Elderwood of Hornell Healthcare Facility in Hornell.

Rene was born March 23, 1962 the daughter of Dick Falcone and Ida Mae Canute.  She grew up in and has remained a resident of the Wayland / Springwater areas her entire life.  Rene was a graduate of Wayland Central School and her employment career spanned a few different areas that included working in the offices of; McCurdy’s at Marketplace Mall; Tony’s Pizza in Rochester; and most recently XEPA Trucking in Wayland.  Rene enjoyed attending church on Sunday when able and she loved to cook.  Mostly though, Rene loved her children and grandchildren and attended their sporting events as often as she could.   She also loved her puppies!! 

Rene was pre-deceased by her parents, Dick Falcone and Ida Mae Canute.  She is survived by her children, Ila Johnson of Wayland, Sarah Canute of Dansville and Trevor Sly of Springwater; her grandchildren, Tucker and Elizah; her siblings, Randy Canute of Springwater and Roger Canute of Olean; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Rene’s family and friends are invited to call Thursday from 4-7pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland.  Her funeral service will be Friday at 11am at the funeral home.  Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland.
