Obituary of Mary L. Stanton

Cohocton – Naples – Mary Stanton, 102 years of age, passed away early Friday morning, May 8, 2020 at the MM Ewing Healthcare Facility in Canandaigua. Mary was born May 26, 1917 in Northeast, PA the daughter of Carl and Emma (Rohmm) Reibs. She married Leo R Stanton on Dec.13, 1942 and they lived on the family farm for 47 years. Leo passed in 1989 and Mary moved to Naples until 1997 at which time she moved to “Independent Living” Ferris Hills in Canandaigua. Mary was a volunteer at Thompson Hospital for over 40 years and was well known as the “ mail lady.” She was always very active in her church, First Presbyterian ( Trinity) in Naples and United in Canandaigua. Mary enjoyed playing bridge and was a long standing member of the AZULIKET club. Mary was pre-deceased by her parents, Carl and Emma Reibs; and her son-in-law, Hal Graham. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Graham of Cohocton; her niece, Louise (Norm) Miller of Rush; her nephews, David (Pat) Reibs of IN and John (Judy) Reibs of IN; and her sister-in-law, Gloria Reibs. A Celebration of Life is being planned for Mary later in the year along with interment at Clearview Cemetery in North Cohocton. Contributions in memory of Mary L. Stanton may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 54 Maple Ave., Cohocton, NY 14826.
