Obituary of Michael D. Gordon
Avoca – Michael D. Gordon, 64 years of age, passed away early Sunday morning, September 5, 2021 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
Michael was born December 10, 1956 in Bath, NY the son of Corwin “Corky” and Rose Marie (Oakley) Gordon. He grew up in Towlesville, NY graduated from Avoca High School and has remained a resident of the Towlesville / Avoca area his entire life. Michael worked for the Mercury Corporation for 46 years; an accomplishment that not many can say! Michael loved spending time with his family and friends! Michael was friendly and could strike up a conversation with anyone. If he hadn’t seen you in a while he would still talk to you like it was yesterday. He was good at everything and thought of as a “jack of all trades and master of none” by his family. Michael was always looking for a bargain and couldn’t pass up a good yard sale. Go Karts were a favorite of his whether he was fixing them or riding them with his family and friends, especially his grandkids. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, going to car shows and tractor pulls, as well as fireworks!
Michael was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend that will be dearly missed by all.
Michael was pre-deceased by his parents, Corky and Rose Marie Gordon; a brother Rick Gordon; and his mother and father-in-law, Roger “Bud” and Linda Wolcott. He is survived by his wife of almost 42 years Lois Gordon of Avoca; his daughters, Amy (Jon) Wakefield of Avoca, Heather Quanz (Gordon) of Statesville, NC and Michelle (Eric) Sloan of Eielson AFB, AK; his grandchildren, Bryan, Hailey, Kyla, Collin, Kamryn, Kirsten and Kelsey; his siblings, Jim (Dee) Gordon, Randy Gordon and John Gordon all of Towlesville; brothers and sisters in law, Cindy Rumble of Bergen, Jon Wolcott of Cohocton, Matt Wolcott of Cohocton, Anne (Tim) Smith of Cohocton, Ken Wolcott (April Briggs) of Painted Post and Lynn (Dale) Leslie of Ellensburg, WA; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
