Obituary of Delores C. Peabody

Wayland – Delores C. Peabody, 86 years of age, passed away Tuesday evening, April 19, 2022 at Nicholas H. Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville. Delores was born June 11, 1935 in Augusta, Maine, the daughter of Richard and Dorothy (Dow) Abbott. She resided a few years in Maine and Massachusetts however for most of her life she lived in Wayland. Delores and R. Gerald Peabody were married October 21st, 1953 at the Wayland United Methodist Church and together celebrated over 39 years of marriage prior to Gerald passing away August 26, 1993. Delores worked for many years at The Gunlocke Company, in the chair plant. Delores loved sitting on the porch in the sun; completing word searches and eating Rice Krispy Treats; re-purposing book covers; and Buddy, her Bichon Frise dog was of utmost importance to her. Delores was pre-deceased by her parents; her husband Gerald Peabody; her daughter Carol Peabody; infant daughter, Elaine Peabody; her siblings, Merle Abbott, Richard Abbott Jr., Shirley Schwitzer, Dalton Abbott and Larry Abbott. She is survived by her children, James (Jane) Peabody of Lima, Bonnie (Terry) Hayes of Wayland, Connie (William) McDowell of Livonia and Roger (Melissa) Peabody of FL; her grandchildren, Karen Miles, Brenden Moore (Jordon), Emilee Peabody, Matthew Hayes, Kaleb Peabody, Dakota Peabody, Alora O’Grady, Katherine Weishaar; her great-grandchildren, Skyler Miles and Koltin Moore; her siblings, Llewelyn Abbott of MA, Gerald (Kathy) Abbott of Seneca Falls, Wayne Abbott of FL, Ronald Abbott of TN; along with many many nieces and nephews. Delores’s family and friends are invited to her funeral service Saturday April 22, 2022 at 1pm at St. George-Forsythe Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Interment will take place at Evergreen/Covered Bridge Cemetery in Springwater. Contributions in memory of Delores C.
