Obituary of Robert J. Loepker
Cohocton – Robert J. Loepker, 81 years of age, passed away Saturday April 23rd, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Robert was born August 27, 1940 in Chicago, IN the son of Isadore and Margaret (Piehler) Loepker. Bob was raised on the family farm in Indiana and upon graduating from high school enlisted in the United States Air Force. Most of his time in the Air Force, he was stationed in Alaska and he was able to homestead there while enlisted. Upon his honorable discharge, he resided in California and attended college. In 1962 Bob and Yvonne Comfort-Williams were married and have celebrated over 61 years of marriage. In 1973 they moved to Dansville and in 1974 moved to Wayland and eventually Cohocton for the past several years.
Bob’s employment spanned many different areas throughout the years including; Finger Lakes DDSO at Sonyea, McConnell Douglas, Foster Wheeler, Wayland Central School and early on as a homesteader in Alaska.
Bob enjoyed shooting, scuba diving, boating, gardening and during his younger years he was an athlete, especially playing basketball. He enjoyed Gregorian Chant, Western music and especially Buddy Holly and the Crickets. Most important to Bob though was his family. They are a close knit family and he made sure they were cared for.
Bob was pre-deceased by his parents, Isadore and Margaret Loepker; infant sons, Christopher and Trygve Steven; brothers, Isadore Loepker Jr. (MaryAnne), Raymond Loepker and George Loepker. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Comfort-Williams of Cohocton; his sons, Erik Loepker of Rochester and Josh Loepker of Rochester; his grandson, Romans Janovics of Rochester; his sister Rose (Bob) Hayes of Dansville; along with several nieces and nephews.
Bob will be interred at Ascension Garden in Rochester and his wish of a green burial will take place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated later this summer.
