Obituary of Stephen D. Zeh
N. Cohocton / Cohocton – Stephen D. Zeh, 48 years of age, passed away early Friday evening August 21, 2015 at the home of his father and second mother, Don and Onlee Zeh, where they were honored to care for him during his final days.
Steve was born in Bath, NY November 20th, 1966 the son of Donald Zeh and Joan Bill. He grew up and resided most of his life in the N. Cohocton / Cohocton / Wayland areas. He was a Wayland Central School graduate within the class of 1985. His employment career was almost entirely with the Alstom Company. He was at their Hornell facility for over 18 years and for the past 2 years he was at the Rochester facility.
His hobbies were many as he enjoyed camping, cooking, as evidenced by his family calling him the “grill master”, fishing and hunting, and especially attending and watching dirt track racing at Woodhull and Dundee (attending his last race with his father just a couple weeks ago). Steve could fix just about anything for his children and he was a good provider for them. Snowmobiling and four wheeling were also activities Steve enjoyed.
Steve was pre-deceased by his mother Joan Bill; his brother, Christopher Zeh; his grandparents, Louis and Gertrude Zeh and Harold and Jennie Bill; and a special aunt, Susan Bill. He is survived by his children, Kyle Fitzgerald Zeh of N. Carolina, Amber Zeh of Wayland and Stephen Zeh of Wayland; his grandchildren, Noah and Dylan; his parents, Donald (Onlee) Zeh of Cohocton; siblings, Lisa (Kevin) Sanford of Wayland, Todd (Heather) Zeh of Cohocton, Tracey (John) Wilkins of CT, Trisha (Robert) Carey of Atlanta and Bonnie Newman (Greg Page) of Cohocton; several nieces and nephews; along with many friends at Alstom.
Steve’s family and friends may call Tuesday from 1:00 -3:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Steve’s funeral service will take place Wednesday August 26th, at 11:00am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Stephen D. Zeh’s memory may be made to the Vincent House, 310 Second Ave., Wayland, NY 14572 or to the Cohocton Sons of American Legion, 6 Wilcox St., Cohocton, NY 14826.
