Obituary of Donna M. Short

PLEASE NOTE THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL WILL BE AT SACRED HEART CHURCH IN PERKINSVILLE Wayland – Donna M. Short, 79 years of age, passed away Monday evening, February 20, 2023 at Noyes Memorial Hospital. Donna was born October 30, 1943 in Dansville the daughter of Aloysius and Lucille (Yochem) Morsch. She grew up in the Perkinsville and Dansville areas and has resided in Wayland most all of her life. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart School in Perkinsville and a Class of 1961 graduate at Wayland Central School. Donna and Richard A. Short were married March 14, 1964 and together celebrated over 28 years together prior to Richard passing away in 1992. Her working career spanned many different areas and local companies including, Westinghouse, G.C. Murphy, Craig Developmental, Papas Brothers Dry Cleaners, Blum Shoe Factory, the Toy Factory in Wayland, Kelly Brothers Nursery, Dansville Press, The Gunlocke Company, Kraft Foods and finally back at the Gunlocke Company, retiring in 2005. Donna’s hobbies were many! She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, computer games, and in her younger years riding bicycles and roller skating. She was a member of the home bureau club that made many different types of decorations as well. Donna was very proud to have met Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez! Donna was pre-deceased by her parents, Aloysius and Lucille Morsch; her husband, Richard A. Short; her son Richard C. “Ricky” Short; her grandsons, Johnathon Short and James Adams; and her great granddaughter, Aurora Shanks. She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Jerry) Yingling of Angelica and Lori Schledorn (Gordie Clayson) of Penn Yann; her grandchildren, Misty (Eric) Child, Holly Adams (Nathan Mingobelli), Devan DiFrancesco, Michael Alexander, Rachel Mead and Rose Manhart; her great grandchildren, Junipero, Dominic, Danny, Aiden, Madelyn, Eddie, Ella Carmen, Amara, James and Emma; her siblings, Richard (Ruth) Morsch of Dansville, Gene (Donna) Morsch of Perkinsville and Mary Morsch of Dansville; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Donna’s family and friends are invited to her Mass of Christian Burial on Friday February 24, 2023 at 11am at Sacred Heart Church in Perkinsville. Committal prayers and interment will take place immediately following at Wayland Village Cemetery.
