Loved sharing Aunt Lorraine’s Birthdays with her because she was always so positive and happy. She would always say how wonderful her birthdays were because it was a reminder of how much life and memories God blessed her with.

Aunt Lorraine loved her great great nephew Gavyn! Her love for him and her constant hugging of him reminded me of when I was his age and Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Gordon would love on us kids and hug us so much!

I’ve only known Aunt Lorraine for about 11 years but she was very special to me. Although sometimes you couldn’t get a word in edgewise which we thought was hysterical, we usually spoke 2-3 times a month. Every 2-3 months, I would travel to New York to check on her and another aunt. I would usually fill up her freezer for her and often bought us a meal to have together. I would also bring her tons of yarn. Gary Price and I brought her to Georgia for a few weeks and even though she couldn’t see him - she was able to reconnect with her brother by phone before his passing. Her and I went and had our hair done and enjoyed a day of beauty. She stayed in our guest room that had a small powder room and ended up getting stuck because she closed the door. We would tease her about that and she would just laugh. The picture being used here was one she had a negative for but no picture. She sent me the negative asking if I could get a picture from it which I did. Rest in peace Aunt Lorraine. I love you and think about you often.

A funny memory that fills me to this day with love and laughter, is one specific time Uncle Gordon took me out on the motorcycle. Aunt Lorraine always worried when Uncle Gordon took me riding on the motorcycle. One time he took me riding for the whole day. When we got back Aunt Lorraine lit into him about how worried she was and how dangerous having me on the bike was, especially since it had gotten dark and rained some. Uncle Gordon just stood there with a scowl on his face until Aunt Lorraine calmed a little. Then he elbowed me and said “watch this”. He handed Aunt Lorraine a paper sack that had a gift in it we got for her earlier that day. It was an owl dream catcher. Aunt Lorraine loved owls. When she saw it she got real quiet, then hugged Uncle Gordon. They laughed, they joked, and we had a late dinner. That’s how I remember Aunt Lorraine; strong, caring, forgiving, loving, fun and immensely loyal to those she loved.

Since I was a child, Aunt Lorraine played a very important part in my life. Her and Uncle Gordon would take me out to the Char Pit and Abbots for ice cream and then spend time with me and make me feel like I was the most important nephew in the world. And I’ll never forget the huge collection of Avon cologne cars and Hess trucks Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Gordon gave me over the years. For no reason they would show up at the house and give me a car or truck for my collection. It was special to me because Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Gordon went out of their way to make me smile and feel loved, despite my home situation. And in 47 years, Aunt Lorraine never forgot my birthday or holiday occasion. No matter where I was in the world, I’d get a card signed with love and hugs from Aunt Lorraine. Aunt Lorraine will live on forever in my love and memories of her. Heaven got a very special angel this time.

When I was 17 years old I worked at a little ice cream stand that sold sandwiches, Italian sausage, hamburgers, hotdogs. Lorraine and Gordon used to come every weekend they loved the Italian sausage there, they got to be family. I introduced them to my parents and they would come to our house. I honestly don't know what happened but they stopped coming around after a few years and I didn't know how to get a hold of them back then. They were such wonderful people we really missed them!
I just opened a March 3rd penny saver on March 8th and saw her picture and started crying to think I've been here in Springwater 10 years and didn't know she was right in Wayland still alive. I am just sick! I'm 63 now and they were a very important part of my life!
God Bless her and she is now with Gordon.
