Obituary of JoAnn Willis
Wayland – JoAnn Willis, 67 years of age, passed away early Saturday afternoon, September 7, 2023 at Highland Hospital in Rochester.
JoAnn was born February 19, 1956 in Rochester the daughter of Paul and Betty (Corbin) Smith. She grew up in South Lima and Conesus and was a 1975 graduate of Livonia Central School. In 1976 JoAnn moved to the Springwater/Wayland area and has lived there ever since. JoAnn worked at Wayland Cohocton Central School for many years, retiring in 2011.
JoAnn and Gordon Willis were married October 15, 1977 in Dansville and together have celebrated over 45 years together. JoAnn enjoyed all types of crafts that included sewing, knitting, crocheting, painting and coloring. She enjoyed gardening both vegetables and flowers. For over 25 years, JoAnn was involved with the Girl Scouts, being a leader for many of those years.
JoAnn was pre-deceased by her parents, Paul and Betty Smith; and her infant sister, Paula. She is survived by her husband Gordon of Wayland; her daughter, Carla (James) Barcomb of Conesus and her son, Timothy Willis of Springwater; her grandsons, Noah, Mikel and Mayson; her special friend that was like a sister to her, Sue Kretchmer; with many many cousins.
JoAnn’s family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for her Saturday October 21, 2023 from 1-5pm at the Lakeville Training Grounds, 5939 Stone Hill Rd, Lakeville, NY 14480. Prior to the celebration of life, JoAnn will be laid to rest at 11am at Oakridge Lima Cemetery.
