Obituary of Bernard A. Morgan
Dansville – Bernard A. “Bernie” Morgan, 97 years of age passed away on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2015 at the Bath VA Medical Center.
Bernie was born May 8th, 1918 the son of the late, James P. and Elizabeth (Canty) Morgan. Bernie and Dale Chasey Morgan were married Sept. 15, 1938 in Dansville and together celebrated over 73 wonderful years of marriage. He was a graduate of Dansville Central School. Bernie served his country in the United States Army from June 12, 1944 until his honorable discharge January 16, 1946. During his tenure he was a survivor of the World War II Battle of the Bulge.
Bernie was employed at the former Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation in Dansville where he had been employed from 1940-1980 retiring form production control after 40 years of service. Bernie was a member in several organizations, including the Daniel Goho American Legion Post #87, the Dansville Fish and Game Protective Association, the Protectives Fire Company of the Dansville Fire Dept., the Foster Wheeler 25 year club, Survivors of the Battle of the Bulge and an active communicant of St. Mary’s Church. He was an avid golfer and member of the Brae Burn Men’s Golf Assoc. for many years.
Bernie was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 73 years Dale E. Morgan. He is survived by daughter, Patti (Walter) Keefe of San Francisco, Calif., and a son, Denny (Mary) Morgan of Greece; 3 grandchildren, 4 great- grandchildren; brother, Jack Morgan of Rochester; several nieces, nephews and cousins. No prior calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Dansville. Interment with full military honors will take place immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville. In lieu of flowers contributions to Dansville Fish and Game Protective Assoc., P.O. Box 406, Dansville, N.Y. 14437. Arrangements, St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, Wayland.
