Obituary of Thomas E. Moon
Cohocton – Thomas E. Moon, 92 years of age, passed away Saturday April 20, 2024 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Tom was born March 7, 1932 in Rochester the son of Charles and Jessie (Heath) Moon. He grew up in Rochester and moved to Hilton in 1962, he lived there most of his life there. In the late 1980’s he moved to North Carolina for a couple years, back to Hilton, NY in the early 1990’s and then in 2004 he moved to Cohocton and has remained there since. Tom and Barbara Ockenden were married December 29, 1960 and celebrated 54 years together prior to her passing away February 14, 2014. Tom served his country in the United States Air Force from April 21, 1952 until his honorable discharge January 31, 1953.
Tom worked for many years as a contractor excelling in many areas. His hobbies were many. He enjoyed puzzles, watching baseball, basketball and football, with the Buffalo Bills and Syracuse Orange his favorite teams. Most of all though he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Tom was pre-deceased by his parents; his wife Barbara; and several siblings. He is survived by his sons, Mark (Diane) Moon of Hilton and James (Patricia) Moon of Cohocton; his grandchildren, Scott (Allyssa) Moon, Andy (Jill) Moon, Richard Findley (Abby Sick), Philip-Joseph (Sarah) Charette, Amylynn (Patrick) Sick and Tehya Lickers; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom’s family and friends may call Wednesday May 1, 2024 from 11am-12pm at Redefined Church, 2 Main St., Atlanta. Tom’s funeral service will be at the conclusion of calling hours at 12pm at the church.
