Obituary of Dorothy M. Hill

Springwater NY, North Port, Florida – Dorothy Mae (Volpe) Hill – “Dottie,” 81 years of age, passed away late Friday night, August 23, 2024 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris. Dottie was born September 7, 1942 in Rochester the daughter of Joseph D. and Marie T. (Goffredo) Volpe. She grew up in Rochester and graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School. Dottie raised her children in Springwater and resided there for many years. In 1984 she moved to Florida and began her life there. She worked for the Nielsen Company for over 20 years. Dottie and Douglas Hill met in Florida and married in 1999 and celebrated over 15 years together prior to Doug passing away in December of 2014. In 2021 Dottie moved back to the Wayland area and resided there until her health required a move to the healthcare facility in Mt. Morris. Dottie loved music of all types, enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting; and collecting angels. Dottie also enjoyed spending time with her girls club and her cousins club in Springwater, Rochester and Florida. They all remained the very best of friends and shared wonderful get togethers “laughing until their sides hurt.” While living in Springwater she was a member of the Springwater Ambulance Department. Dottie was pre-deceased by her parents, Joseph and Marie Volpe and her husband, Douglas Hill. She is survived by her 2 sons, James (Cindy) Perkins of Wayland and Mark (Kim) Perkins of Wayland; her grandchildren, Tyler (Lauren) Thielges of Wayland and McKenzie Perkins of Wayland; her great-granddaughter, Evie; her sister, Andrea Soper of Sunnyvale, CA; along with her husband Doug’s family residing in Florida. Dottie has requested no formal funeral services. Her family will celebrate and memorialize her life privately.
