Obituary of Dorothy S. Artlip

Wayland – Dorothy (Strasburg) Artlip, 85 years of age, passed away Monday evening December 14th, 2015 at her home. Dorothy was born September 28, 1930 in Fabius, NY the daughter of Lawrence and Nellie (Merrifield) Strasburg. She grew up in Syracuse and moved to Lima for several years, graduating from Lima Central School. Throughout the years, Dorothy resided in many different areas including, Springwater, Lockport, Arlington, TX, Florida, Pembrook Pines and Wayland for many years. Dorothy and Willis Artlip were married August 18, 1951 and together celebrated over 47 years of marriage prior to Willis passing away in July of 1999. Dorothy proclaimed she was a “retired housewife” of many years and stated her “heart has always been in Western NY, enjoying the change of seasons.” Of great influence in her life, was learning different ways of life and homemaking activities. Dorothy was pre-deceased by her parents; her husband, Willis; and her brothers Robert, Harold, Bernard and Eugene Strasburg. She is survived by her children Dolores A. (Jeffrey) Hill of Margate, FL and Gregory (Teresa) Artlip of Hollywood, FL; her grandchildren, Christopher and Brian Hill; nephews Jon (Cindy) Strasburg, Bob Strasburg, Steven (Joyce) Strasburg; her niece, Katherine (Karl) Bill; great-nephew and great niece, Justin and Jessica Strasburg. Dorothy’s family and friends are invited to attend her memorial service Saturday at 11:00 at the Springwater United Methodist Church, 8001 S. Main St., Springwater. Internment will take place at Oakridge Cemetery in Lima. Memorial contributions in Dorothy Artlip’s memory may be made to the Springwater United Methodist Church, 8001 S.
