Obituary of Franklin W. Hoffman Sr.
Perkinsville / Wayland – Frankin W. “Frankie” Hoffman Sr., 78 years of age, passed away early Thursday evening February 4th, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Frank was born in Wayland August 27th, 1937 the son of Raymond and Mildred (Taylor) Hoffman. He grew up in Perkinsville and has remained a lifetime resident of the Perkinsville/Wayland area. Frank was a master upholsterer and was employed at The Gunlocke Company for over 42 years. After that he continued his upholstery as a side business out of his home. Frank and Sharon Swink were married February 15th, 1958 at Sacred Heart Church in Perkinsville and have celebrated over 57 years together. They raised four children together, Debra, Karen, Frank Jr. and Lisa and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Throughout the years Frank was a member of the Moose Club, the Wayland American Legion, the Perkinsville, Wayland and Springwater Rod-n-Gun Clubs, a longtime member of the NRA and a member of the Perkinsville Fire Department for many many years. His hobbies were many as he loved hunting. He especially loved hunting with his dogs, whether it was rabbit, raccoon or coyote hunting it didn’t matter. Deer hunting was also a great joy of Frank’s as he has many hanging mounts that he is very proud of. Frank also enjoyed walking with Sharon and his dog, however, it was often noted, the dog walked Frank. Frank was a regular at the local coffee shops, loved to dance at the local establishments when the bands were playing and would always say hello. He also enjoyed motorcycle riding, snowmobiling and boating. Frank will be dearly missed by all his family and friends throughout the community.
Frank was pre-deceased by his parents, Raymond and Mildred; his grandson, Franklin W. “Buddy” Hoffman; his siblings, Bob, Paul, Jimmy, Dorothy, Mary, Betty and Helen. He is survived by his wife Sharon of Wayland; his children, Debra (Mike) Shetler of Wayland, Karen (Dale) Parks of Dansville, Frank Hoffman Jr. of Wayland and Lisa (Doug) Schuster of Dansville; his grandchildren, Shauna, Aaron, Kyle, Kelsei, TJ and Mandy; his sister, Lilian Ryan of Wayland; his brother, Franny Hoffman of Hornell; his brother in law, Charles (Kim) Swink of Dansville; his sister in law, Paulette Henry (Jerry Fox) of Springwater; many nieces and nephews; and especially his dogs, Sadie and Maggie.
Frank’s family and friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Frank Tuesday at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church in Perkinsville. Internment and committal prayers will take place at the convenience of his family at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Perkinsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Perkinsville Fire Department, PO Box 152, Perkinsville, NY 14529 or the Vincent House, 310 Second Ave., Wayland, NY or the Ann and Carl Myers Cancer Center at Noyes, Clara Barton St., Dansville, NY 14437.
