Obituary of Elsie M. Drum
Cohocton - Elsie (Allen) Drum, 82 years of age, passed away peacefully Monday, December 1, 2014, at her home with her loved ones. Elsie was born October 18, 1932 in Avoca, the daughter of Guy C. and Anna (Wise) Allen. She was a graduate of Avoca Central School and a resident of Cohocton for most of her life until her move to Penn Yan four years ago.
Elsie owned and operated her own flower shop (Drum’s Flowers) for years as she had a true passion and love for flowers and plants. She enjoyed cooking, and was an avid fan of Facebook and Gmail, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elsie “Gram” was a very loving woman who never missed a family anniversary or birthday, and will be missed greatly by those who knew her and loved her. She also was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cohocton
Elsie was predeceased by her parents, Guy and Anna Allen; her loving husband, Eldon: her brothers; Elwin Allen and Milton Allen; a grandson, Cory Drum; and a great-grandson Preston VanSkiver. Elsie is survived by her children; Cheryl Day (William Yonts) of Penn Yan, NY, George (Colleen) Drum of Farmington, NY, Carl (Connie)Drum of Culpepper Virginia, and Gary (Leslie) Drum of Branchport, NY; brothers: Paul Allen of San Antonio, TX, William Wise of Rochester, NY, and Alton Allen of Hendersonville, NC; sisters: Donna Wydner of Avoca, NY, Judith Blake of Hornell, NY, Lillian Belanger of Avoca, NY, and Marlene Schillinger of Conesus, NY; grandchildren: Danielle (Matt) Bondgren, Renee (Daniel) Stewart, Jaime (Joel) Covert, Patrick Lucas (Christina) Angus, Lyndsey (Andrew) King, Gary (Robin) Drum, Katie (Matthew) Kline, Kyle (Natasha) Drum, Elyse Drum, Cassie Drum, Matthew (Jordon) Drum; many great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
Elsie’s family and friends may call Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00pm at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 West Naples St., Wayland. Elsie’s funeral service will take place Friday at 11:00am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Elsie Drum’s memory may be made to Ontario / Yates County Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Road: Geneva, NY 14456.
